I’m glad for Dreyfus. I have breast cancer and its just hell on earth. I’m wondering why she still has hair, unless it’s a wig..mine fell out after my first chemo and two years later I am still not quite back to myself, (though my hair is!).
I saw it as black and white, I mean, her skin and hair are rendered in black and white as this classical gesture to historical photography (and perhaps a subtle commentary on race), with the geometric dress offering modernity but also americana (quilting with the flying geese), and in my mind the background was the…
Because I’m in the greys, and I know you “know” me, I’ll post this here:
The artist was in a real tough spot, you have to admit. She had to paint Michelle’s portrait, but also leave enough wiggle room so it can be used to paint Melania’s face over it in a few years.
1. Romania isolated itself from most of the world under Ceaucescu, leaving the Warsaw Pact and occasionally flirting with the West (and more often Mao’s China, which broke with the USSR in 1963). Life under Ceaucescu was weirder and more intense than ever was the case in the USSR proper.
Fun fact: in an effort to have them overlook the doping scandal, the Russian Federation first tried to bribe the IOC officials. When they flat out refused the bribe, the Russians the offered to make a generous “donation” to the next IOC charity ball, to which the IOC responded: “We don’t have balls.”
She wouldn’t be competing if the IOC had balls.
I was over at A.V. Club, posting about This is Us, and how I would also go back into my burning house for the dog(s). Someone told me this was a horrible thing to do to my children. I said I don’t have any children. I was then told that when I did have children I’d understand. I responded I’m 49 and 1/2 and have 4…
No. You’re being thoughtful and self-aware and honest, at which a lot of people fail.
NOPE. This kiddo is cute as heck, but we would have done the exact same thing. We did alllll the optional testing when I was pregnant and would have terminated depending on the results. And I work with children with disabilities. There are certainly worse conditions that we can’t test for and we can’t determine if…
It would be hypocritical if society was fair and supportive of parents so that you could give a baby all they need no matter what that is. However, since every family is essentially on their own, we can be grateful that some parents, like those of this cutie, are able to make it work while facing up to our own reality.
I love this cutie! At the same time, are there are ladies who are looking at this photo and feeling god-awful guilt? My husband and I are planning to have a baby this year. We are doing genetic testing (including Down’s) and we’re fairly certain we would abort a baby with Down Syndrome because we do not have the time…
My husband’s cousin’s daughter looked like Antonin Scalia when she was an infant. Not a cute Super Court justice, not a cute baby.
This ain’t the 1970's. We don’t eat babies anymore.
False. Many babies are very weird looking and/or homely (I say as a person who loves babies, including homely ones). This baby, however, is adorable. His smile is the best.
Nah some babies aren’t cute. But this one is!!
LOL, judging by the epic piece of work they appear to be I’m fairly certain EmmaIsMyHero’s relatives will ship them to a nursing home the first chance they get too, despite his or her’s precious neurotypicality.
God only knows.
i don’t want kids. i had my tubes tied so i don’t have any accidents. babies especially are not for me, out of all the varieties of kids.
