My biggest beef with clothing manufacturers:

I’m working in Japan right now for about a year for my job. I explained to my Japanese coworkers (who all have National Health) how healthcare works in the US, and they were pretty shocked.

I’m in the top 50% and I barely get by with the expenses of my single home.

When you leave this to churches and charities, the people they will help are always “deserving people”, AKA people like us.

Plus, the donations are from low income people to poor people to poorer people. The bottom 50% of this country is all taking care of the other bottom 50%, while the top 50% hoard the wealth and buy 20 homes, and pay their employees so little, their employees qualify for food stamps!

Yeah, we have close to 100 trillion in wealth in this country. In the world, 16 people have more wealth than the bottom 50% of the entire planet. Maybe we as a country shouldn’t have to rely on individual GoFundMe campaigns to fight drug addiction and homelessness, or may for medical bills, or really provide any of the kinds of services that a government in a wealthy country should be able to provide.
