Same here. I even skim many articles and go straight to the comments section where the real discussion is. I can’t think of any other place I can do that without wanting to pour a gallon of bleach into my brain afterward.

For the love of God, white people, spice you food.
Boyfriend does this, tampered down from his original line “How you doin’?” Which I quickly killed. I sent him this post this ensued.
You mean “you’re welcome for the clap”.
My personal preference is “please clap.”
Oooh, I got The Band: “It’s fine! We’re fine!! Everything is fine!!!!”
I know what you mean, but it sounds like it had meaning for both of them so I’m just going to enjoy hearing about people being good to relative strangers.
My uncle has written a bit with the woman who donated her bone marrow and saved his life. I think it’s really nice! He seems to get a lot from it, I mean, in addition to the not dying of AML stuff!
Jeebus, can’t you just enjoy the fact that these people didn’t find it awkward and the daughter was happy and the dude was happy?
I never got the hang of straightening my curly hair (it didn’t get curly until my teens, and my mother has stick straight hair and was just as perplexed as I was), so I basically “lived with” my hair and resigned myself to the fact that I just didn’t have pretty hair.
This. I am white but also fat and have curly hair. Not seeing myself represented was hurtful. It seems small but it’s important.
There are a lot of children in the system with multiple disabilities, but I’m not sure about the specifics around your question. I’ve worked with kids who have life threatening health conditions, and the children and families go through so much. I’m not saying that their lives are not worth living, but I think that…
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?! What kind of a monster would say that? Also, I don’t even think that’s the Catholic Church’s stance—they think you have a soul at the moment of conception, which is why they are against abortion (not that I agree, but normally there is a logic involved in their arbitrary rules, even if…
So I’m remembering my miscarriage. I was three months along. I bled for three days. If this law went into effect, I would have had to save every single stinking, clotted, soaked-through menstrual pad I wore for those days on the off chance that some of the fetal tissue was in that welter. I was physically exhausted…
Yea, I can't really fault someone who has fought for equal pay and reproductive rights for talking about how misogyny affects the women nearest him.
I generally agree that it’s frustrating when men begin to embrace feminist ideology through their relationships with women, rather than recognizing women as independent human beings deserving of equal rights irrespective of their relationships to men.
And these are only the incidents that we hear about, because they happen to media-savvy people with access to publicity. Imagine how many times it happens that we never hear about.
My only time with a psychic was one of those ones who would line up along the walkway in the French Quarter in New Orleans. She read my palm and asked me a few questions that I answered noncommittally, not wanting to give her anything to “work with.”
My sister-in-law recently saw a psychic who said, “your grandmother [who died x years ago] says your mom has a secret about your uncle [my SIL’s father’s brother].” Sure enough, mom acknowledges that 20+ years ago when her husband left her, the husband’s brother (who was married) told my SIL’s mother that he’d always…
His plane flew over me as I was driving past LaGuardia on my way home a little while ago. I felt the temperature plunge, as though a Dementor was nearby.
