All businesses are the same way... everywhere... not just the US.

Its not direct government control... its run by private companies. Though the companies tend to bend to the will of the gov more than I like.

Given both the US and UN track records... I do not really want either of them to claim control of the internet.

I never really paid attention to the power source, many satellites I have seen are solar, but those are probably short term satellites.

This will only further enable and make it easier for government propaganda to take hold. Limiting outside information makes it harder for people to determine truth from fiction.

Power requirements and the fact that they need to be extremely durable. The newest top of the line gear tends to not be very durable. Radiation, shock/Gforce, dirt/dust, and all sorts of other things hazardous to electronics.
