Really? I want a corgi so badly, and I would to know what your process of getting one was like, and how your fits into your life.

That is a really loving and sensible response. Here’s hoping it isn’t needed for a long, long time.

You are doing God’s work. That book broke me open and healed me in the best way possible. Her compassionate lyricism, her inventiveness...it’s all so fucking beautiful (also, A God in Ruins, which made me full-on sob on a plan next to a man that looked like Santa).

RIGHT?! IT’S SO GOOD!

I mean, I guess, but...honestly, nothing about that book is appealing to me. Two white women exploring the soul of modern feminism, and Meg Wolitzer as an author does nothing for me. If someone were to adapt Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life, then I’d be interested.

It seems like film adaptations of stage horror just don’t work—good theatre uses the physical space of the stage and the house in ways a movie can’t do. The Woman in Black is another example. In a theatre, it’s genuinely bone-chilling; the movie version was a straightforward haunted house story.

Wit. God of Carnage. Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

I was definitely expecting it to come in all Handmaids-Tale-themed colorsways: Serena Joy (tealish blue), Offred, Martha (olive), Aunt (brown), and possibly even Jezebel’s (which I assume would be a gold color).

That is really exceptional! I feel you on not wanting to panic every time you feel a twinge; sometimes my heart beats faster for no reason, and so my brain assumes we must be anxious, so I get anxious. It’s Not Fun.

This is super-helpful—THANK YOU so much! I’m actually going to put all of this together into a Google Doc to share with my fellow students (and probably share the link in the SNS Open Thread, so other people can benefit, too).

Thank you so much!

I figured that money was going to her own people, who would still need to be paid for it, and that the festival wasn’t going to cover the cost.

Thank you! Semicolons exist for a reason! Come on!

When I worked on the Hill, the dogs were the best bit. Well, that and the $4 burgers in the Longworth cafeteria. But the dogs were great.

Bullshit. Part of the reason that flexibility needs to be there is because being in session, especially when legislation is being debated or voted on, requires her presence for long times, or weird, sudden hours. It matters that there be working mothers in the Senate and that having a baby shouldn’t stop a legislator

I want a wedding! With a balloon arch and Addams Family-themed vows and Jimmy Smits reluctantly giving Amy away.

I would love to see what Gina thought of Kate, though. That would be amazing.

Gina could be one of Rosa’s sisters—one of the smily, happy ones she was always so keen to avoid. Maybe she comes to visit, and it drives Rosa insane, but then it turns out that she heard Rosa came out and she wanted to talk to her and thank her, because she is also bi, and Rosa coming out first made it a little bit

Ah, jeez, that is SO much worse.
