I’m climbing onto my little soap box real fast to point out that “white trash” is racist. It implies that trash people are all non-white as a standard setting, and that the “whiteness” of this trash person makes their trashiness somehow unique and different than standard trash.

* the more you know *

For the first part, what’s your point?

One friend was 40 when he shipped out to OIF in 2004. Another friend in his squad (I didn’t find out until well after) was in his 30s. They were NOT the oldest in that unit, even aside from their CO.
(I think all I can say is Transportation?)

Ok, OP is 33, born 1987, let’s say to a 25 year old mom. Let’s say bro was 3 years older, 28 in 1987...32 and serving in the military for the war in 1991. What doesn’t add up about that?

People were making fun of others for coming up with titles....you can’t win.

The Old Gray Thing was posted word for word on Reddit a year ago. I knew I’d read it before and searched some of the text. Could be the same author, but the user names are different.

All of these are winners, but the car following the couple home and The Red House especially creeped me out. “I was by the closet.”

I mean - did you miss the part where he died and the gifts kept on coming?  I don’t think being undead is a PTSD symptom

I thought the Uncle Billy story was pretty humanizing actually, it was very evocative and well written I thought

This made me smile. 🤣 I feel like it’s for the true stories. I wrote about an incident involving my husband and I, and a door opening between us and struggled with it. Could be covid burnout, but I was like...this doesn't make sense! I need to explain the stairs and the bathroom!

booo hisssss

Wow. I generally tried to keep up with the discussion thread on a daily basis, so I’d read all of these except the creepy uncle one. It wasn’t as scary as it was riveting and sentimental in a spooky sort of way.

There’s a few mistakes in your assessment: Two members, not one, were born and raised in Korea: Jennie and Jisoo (not Jisoon). Jennie attended school in New Zealand for about five years and returned to Korea. That is where she picked up her English, which is by the way not as fluent as the Australian member, Rosé, who

My understanding is that while she isn’t fluent, she does understand it and is conversational... Given she’s fluent in like, 3 languages, being condescended to about that feels pretty gross, regardless of intent.

He noticed healthcare was an issue when his second son was born with a heart defect, and he started talking about it. Sort of like how Megyn Kelly supported maternity leave when she got pregnant. I don’t know why mostly singular moments like that convince anyone that someone’s politics aren’t what they do the other

Take care and recover soon!

So...it’s not pronounced “Wintoor”? Because I totally thought that’s how it’s pronounced.

There’s a school of thought, promoted by the late C.Z. Guest, that if you keep your look mostly the same over the years, it somehow disguises your age. Maybe because you can’t really pinpoint a year in photos?

Totally off topic here but i tested positive Friday for covid after being symptomatic for a week but getting negative test results. Ive never felt worse in my life. Its likely i contracted it from my husband, though he hasnt been ill and tested negative after covid hit his office and 3 people contracted the virus.

It really has hit me in 2020 that if you don’t care what anyone thinks about you, you can get away with just about anything.
