Can’t get rid of federal student loans through bankruptcy.

It’s also not specific to military or military-adjacent type of “service”. He’s included working in national parks, for the state, programs like habitat for humanity etc. as part of that initiative (apologies if that’s what you meant - just wanted to clarify!)
There’s supposedly an ingredient in it to help fight bacteria, but you’d have to ingest a lot of it for it to still be present by the time it gets through your system. I’ve always been much better off just drinking an entire gallon of water whilst sitting on the toilet.
“...and peeing after sex.”
1993 was the last year an undergraduate could pay a year of tuition through a summer time minimum wage job.
People that think like that drive me nuts. I’m 39 and have paid off my student loans. It sucked, and of course I would have preferred to spend that money on other things. But I don’t want the next generation to have to go into debt simply because I did. If everyone thought that way, society would never progress even…
The cost of college is untenable. I know at the University of MN a huge chunk of the budget goes to cover the also untenable health insurance costs of current and pensioned employees, which is another point in favor of single-payer healthcare.
To me, this is where Mayor Pete’s mandatory-national-service proposal can come in. If it’s mandatory for all U.S. citizens to complete some sort of service (Americorps, military, whatever), then create something analogous to the GI Bill, rewarding service with free college.
That’s the basic argument against it that I hear. My response: well, I won’t reap the benefits of the social security taxes I pay, so I guess you shouldn’t get those.
But if I didn’t get it, then I don’t want anyone else to get it. [paraphrasing selfish assholes]
The baby boomers before us went to college for a FRACTION of what it costs now - my parents boast of community college courses either being free, OR CLASSES TOTALING $15 a semester. Compare that to the 20K it costs for a 4 year degree at a state school (that’s the cost if you live at home - god forbid you need money…
“I wish I could staple a free college diploma under every one of your chairs,” she added, voice somber. “I wish I could do that, but I have to be straight with you and tell you the truth.”
A massive wipe of student debt in the U.S. would trigger a huge spending boom in housing and autos, and probably bump up birth rates as young Americans who were looking down the barrel of decades of debt would decide they could have the 2.5 kids their parents had. And all the critics are going to worry about is that…
So snarky, but I love it. And I’m sure Kate fancies herself a regular Annie Leibowitz, when she’s really closer to Anne Geddes.
From what I understand, Beyonce negotiated to own the rights of her Coachella performance and has also turned that into a documentary on Netflix. I think she also netted a $60 million Netflix deal with 2 more projects on the way. So it may seem like Ariana made a better deal, but the reality is somewhat different.
How cute… You think he read something!
This works, too.

I agree. Wrap dresses sound nice. Easily let out after a large meal, cinch at the waist, don’t have to deal with zipping yourself up...
My takeaway from those first two episodes (after which I stopped watching) was, “Do these husbands spark joy?”
