I agree with Dowd in not wanting another big battle. They’re not going to beat this one in terms of scope, and they have no chance of making it more impactful to the story (the most serious threat has already been defeated). We’ve moved firmly into denouement territory. No point in forcing another climax.

I agree. I think Jon/Dany are a red herring. Dany is going to end up turning into the Mad Queen — there’s just been too many hints of this for them not to take it anywhere.
