Could well be, although chassis dynamics alone wouldn’t explain a four-door (and apparently quite comfortable) sedan hitting a ‘Ring time as fast as a older 911 GT3.

power robbing quattro
This is my new favourite meme.
Acceleration on the straights? Not even close. The Giulia is something like .7 seconds slower through the quarter-mile (RS7 Performance models seem to be getting about 11.4-ish). Additionally, the RS7 is likely to be much faster pushing out of turns, on account of its AWD system. The Giulia’s benefit will be higher…
Very true - the fact that it’s running something very, very close to racing slicks probably makes a huge difference. It’d be interesting to see what its rivals would do while running those tyres, or what the Alfa would be like in the wet.
Audi haven’t posted laptimes recently for anything except the R8, which in fairness, manages to get absolutely phenomenal times because of course it does.
I wasn’t questioning faster; I was questioning ten seconds faster. Especially given that, according to virtually all reviewers, the RS7 handles like it’s on rails (at least when fitted with the DRC suspension, instead of that god-awful air suspension) and has one of the most monstrous powertrains fitted to any modern…
I’m getting 7:32 for the CGT from Wikipedia?
I can’t recall if it’s regular or Performance for this one, but I believe that most testers place the RS7's 0-60 time in the low-three-second range; between 3.5 and 3.2 seems to be normal.
Very good point. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that the car will ever be given to anyone in untuned form. If this test is going to happen, it’s going to be done by a private citizen with their own vehicle.
Not surprising; I’d strongly suspect that, when they set their Nurburgring time, they heavily-tuned the car, Ferrari-style. I’d love to see if a stock Giulia Quadrifaculugiciulugiosio could get anywhere close to what the manufacturer claims on that track.
HOLY CRAP.
I remember thinking the same thing when it came out. Even today, there’s something a little odd looking at it.
Am Audi driver, can confirm
Very good video with excellent reasoning; I’ve often found that, in my 2003 Torsen-fitted Audi A4, the system responds best when driven at the limit. It’s most comfortable powering out of corners with the turbo wound up.
RS7 keeps up great with a Tesla, from the videos I’ve seen.
This looks like a lovely car to get run over by at my next C&C.
The RS2 Avant shall be that desperate, high-maintenance dream that shall keep mankind strong through the Dark Ages of the Talking Cheeto.
I desperately want a 2-door Audi A7/S7/RS7. It’d be so beautiful~
