A family friend of mine worked with him back when he was a lawyer, and back then, he was apparently fast-talking, erudite and terrifyingly intelligent. The ‘mentally average’ thing was an act he put on, and nothing more.

I’m in the same boat. I’m a hardline leftist and I think that the Second Iraq War was one of the most monstrous acts in Western history, but really, Bush seemed like a decent guy who got played like a goddamn chump by Cheney, who should be lit on fire as soon as is feasible.

Goddamn, the original has to be one of my favourite action movies around. It’s just so well-done and over-the-top in every single way. Oh, and the heavy metal/rap soundtrack is excellent, and I don’t even like those genres!

At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, that does make sense, although we’d need to learn who was in charge and what their fate will be before we can have any proof of that.

Based on the number of arrests, that seems improbable. Plus, there are indications that the army deployed an armoured company which successfully seized the Turkish parliament (before being pounded into the dirt by F-16 bombing runs), which would indicate some mass-scale support.

I frankly have no idea how things went this way.

This is the worst idea ever, but NP. That thing is sweet, and actually looks pretty alright. I like how understated it is, relative to a lot of other supercars, even if it isn’t as beautiful as current-generation Astons.
