Batman has the most high-tech suit of plot armor in the known universe. Batman v. Superman isn’t ludicrous at all in that context.
I read it as the Joker representing Batman’s Id. Batman doesn’t need to “interact” with Joker because it’s not Joker, it’s a visual manifestation of Batman’s self doubt, base cravings, and other foibles.
