For some reason I found the creature in this episode deeply unsettling. 
Doctor Who creature designs are often inventive and impressive (personal favourites are the clockwork people from "Girl in the Fireplace") but this one gave me the heebie jeebies in a way the more humanoid ones cannot. 
Maybe the jerky movement…

I thought the submarine set, with it's constantly dripping water, was quite impressive.

I forgot about Father-Figure Sisko. Chef Sisko deserves a place on the list too, not least for his entusiastic paprikás.

"Accession" gives us a window on a part of Sisko's personality that we don't often see: Sad Sisko. 
Over the course of DS9 we get plenty of Intense Sisko, a good amount of Angry Sisko and a satisfying seasoning of Crazy Sisko but it is rare he is so wistful and unsure of himself as he is here.  Avery Brooks sells it…
