You’re the first person to mention eminent domain and i’m glad finally someone did. Private companies would never be able to buy the land necessary to build lines in the US.  One of the biggest reasons why there isn’t a high speed rail in TX is because of the land owners fighting against it.

I agree, prison is not appropriate punishment for most things though.  Maybe a monetary fine or community service.
