Yeah, it WAS revolutionary and DID have a brilliant narrative. The new one is a POS in comparison. "Physics engines didn't even really exist yet". Don't lecture me on gaming history when you clearly weren't there.

Just barely. Thief has done way more for the genre, it was just beaten to the punch slightly.

War, war never changes.
Read through the thread and you will see I already know PLENTY about the games and have even played a few, and was seeking to find out the rest. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
I'm pretty close to being convinced to giving 3 another go on the 3DS actually. Don't assume to know my thought processes.
I think I kept popping off walls when I was trying to look around the corner or something. It was years ago so I can't remember so clearly, but I remember being really frustrated by the controls. I just generally never played consoles back then too though (PC only) so that might factor in.
Give me till 2039 and I will come up with something WAY cooler!
Well I like Sci-Fi so there's that. I'm thinking I might get 3 on the 3DS and give it another chance.
I may well try it on the 3DS then. Thanks. :)
Yeah, agreed on Mass Effect, I've started that a few times now and keep fizzling out at the big space station thingy.
Cheers dude. I appreciate your comments.
It's actually a capital E: "E for Everyone". And a capital J.
But I LOVED Deus Ex Machinas! Not as good as The Invisible War though!
I kid!
You seem to get my problems with the clunkyness and the convoluted stories, which one would you say I should try?
I am more of a hardcore stealth person, so I think the level of sneakery (totally a word!) involved in the early game I played left me wanting. Thanks for explaining stuffs. :)
Just saying I don't have the patience for a programme that claims it is going places plot wise, then takes hundreds of hours to get there. Tell me your damn story if you have one!
And as for your last suggestion, that's exactly what I did with Lost!
Some people DO get into it for the plot it seems. I would hope so too, because there is a fuck ton of none interaction in the series. To a record breaking degree.
I'm just trying to understand what I am missing. I played some and didn't get it at all. I would rather be uninformed and asking questions than uninformed and silent.
It's not a matter of complexity, it's a matter of precision in story telling.
People are telling me everything is wrapped up in MGS4, you are telling me it is endless. Who should I believe?
Thief came out a month after MGS1 and had far better (fantastic) stealth, so your talk of physics engines and gaming eras is rubbish. And I HAVE played some of them, and am openly admitting I "don't understand it".
