The best consolation for Mad Max not getting director or picture (or a leading actress nomination) is that spotlight needs it more to be remembered and nobody was as pathetically desperate for it as The Revanant. Mad max will forever be remembered as a great movie alongside Raiders, Dark Knight, Jaws and Episode IV.

Especially surprising since longer movies make less cash due to fewer showings.
