I wonder whether people thought the same thing / resort to the same judgement about grieving with photograph when it was totally new technology way back when.

To each their own I imagine.

That’s unsettling. Imagine if the avatar of the daughter glitched out in a disturbing way?

This whole thing was heartbreaking. Having lost my mom at a relatively young age (I was 16), I can totally understand the desire to do something like this, and I do not judge the family for it.

Hard to pick absolute favorites, but a few come to mind who rank pretty high...

Maybe inappropriate, yet I can’t help but think of this, and Dumbledore’s words of wisdom to Harry: “This mirror gives us neither knowledge or truth.  Men have wasted away in front of it, even gone mad.”

I’m not gonna say she’s my favorite, but I’m gonna post her any way because I feel she’s been kind of forgotten, but Elika, from Prince of Persia 2008.

Let’s just get this out of the way

Wash this the movie where JCVD was a Cajun, as was Wilford Brimley?  Never realized that Sam Raimi was an Exec Producer on this.

Final Fantasy 7 was my first JRPG; hell, possibly even my first RPG in general.
I didnt really love the random encounters in the beginning, but they would grow on me over time.
However, this resulted in me having abandoned so many fights that my characters were seriously underleveled by the time I had to get the huge

Neet; the main character Dart's hometown in Legend of Dragoon was razed in the opening sequences - getting the plot ball rolling.

How could you not mention FF IX - Burmecia? That haunting music music has stayed with me since I first played it when it came out.

Breath of fire starts with a village slaughter if I remember correctly.

The destruction of Clik in Star ocean: Second Story is perhaps one of the most vivid JRPG memories I have from my teenage years. It was really effective with how unexpected the event was, how it brought your quest to a screeching halt, and you were there to witness the immediate impact the earthquake/tsunami combo had

XD

What about Day of Lavos, RIP 1999AD in Chrono Trigger

RIP, JRPG NPCs.
