You do realize that even when women are getting paid to do porn, that if they say no and if they say their SAFEWORD, that the scene must come to a SCREECHING HALT? Fucking christ.

Because consensual BDSM play has nothing to do with actual rape. Many sex-positive feminists engage in BDSM without it conflicting or cancelling out their feminist politics.
The way the BDSM community goes in overtime trying to convince everyone that abuse rarely happens amongst them always seemed suspect to me. I’m sorry you were abused and intimidated into silence. :(
From what I understand, there are predatory men who stalk women in the BDSM community because it’s remarkably easy for them to abuse women there and get away with it scot free. The women are never believed. I am so sorry this happened to you. It’s so unfair. I believe you and Stoya.
That’s one the reasons I’m glad Stoya spoke out about this particular incident. An individual consenting to a BDSM relationship doesn’t mean her or she has consented all possible sexual interactions.
I’ve been trying forever to piece together early warning signs of a rapist...but I can’t. You never know...the “nicest” guys I’ve dated engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with me.
As someone who was abused by a prominent member of the BDSM community and deleted my social media accounts because I couldn’t handle seeing him praised as a “feminist”, I’m awed by Stoya’s bravery. I hope she gets all the support she deserves.
There very well be mental illness at play here. But mental illness doesn’t equal violence. Plus, as Obama noted a few years ago, the US doesn’t have a monopoly on mental illness. We sadly aren’t even the only country with widespread white male privilege and national political figures who spew out hateful rhetoric that…
Mentally ill or no, the rhetoric used by the GOP and far right’s antichoice attempt at a Planned Parenthood smear campaign worked on this man just like it works on people who wouldn’t go so far as to actually commit murder. People are genuinely thrilled this happened. I wish the anti choice bigots spreading messages…
Has it been announced yet whether he obtained the gun legally (as in, passed a background check even with domestic violence on his record)? I haven't seen it mentioned.
Concern troll strikes again!
Exactly. Now. If they had DENIED him credentials and wouldn’t let him in, we’ve got a story. But uncredentialed reporter not allowed into an over-crowded press conference full of credentialed reporters? That’s not really news.
There are also reports saying these kids come from violent / unhappy home lives and are sick of the racism and anti-Muslim discrimination and lack of opportunities. The guys grooming and luring these girls into a life of Mrs Jihad don’t sound any different than the guys who lure non-Muslim American girls into running…
But when you were a teen, did you have access to the internet? I’m so glad I grew up just before the internet became a thing. Because I’m sure I would have done something stupid. Not join a terrorist cell in a foreign country dumb, but something else detrimental.
I had that conversation with my husband the other night. I way I see it is these girls, for the most part, already come from moderate to strict fundamentalist families. They are most likely going to have an arranged marriage to an unknown man, and they’ve grown up believing completely in their religion. So ‘choosing’…
Wait is that only a thing teenagers can do? Whoops.
Whatever happened to doing drugs and fucking boys?
Honestly? Neither. I feel sympathy for girls like these and for people who feel like ISIS is their only option after bombs destroyed their homes, schools, hospitals etc. People who actually believe in the doctrine? Fuck them. They should suffer the same fates that they inflicted on others.
This is terribly sad. Also, somewhat related is this article where Robert Evans of Cracked read every single issue of Isis’ magazine. (Yes, they have a magazine, and the things you learn in it is stuff you really never hear politicians talking about.)
well, teenagers tend to think they are smart and make great decisions.
