I don't know about the TDI, but the 2000 Eclipse had 2 models, Fed-spec and a CARB-spec. The FED spec had an additional 5-10 HP. In 2001, they went to CARB-only.

So why not offer it in 49 other states? Why do we all have to suffer from California's bullshit?

I've always found MPH very useful. It's 120 miles to my in-laws, so I know that if I want to enjoy some good cooking in a jiffey, I'll push for 80 mph and be there in an hour and a half. If I hear that the cousins are visiting from out of town, I'll back off to 60 and enjoy the extra 30 minutes of me-time before…
