Kevyn Aucoin was such an amazing talent who helped make complicated makeup looks seem accessible. I remember being genuinely sad when he died. Before the days of YouTube beauty tutorials, there was his book Making Faces. I will treasure my copies of both of his books forever!
I basically hate makeup but I love Kevyn Aucoin. Since I was a kid. He was a legend and a unicorn and there will never be another.
I have Face Forward and I have looked through that book hundreds of times when I need makeup inspiration (which is any time I put it on, because I hardly do and never remember how to do shit). It’s gorgeous and fascinating and I love reading his descriptions of his models, it’s like he never met an enemy.
