I don’t disagree, but that was one of the constraints that Tom posted. I’m just playing by his rules. This time.

Try telling that to an Englishman.
Well now days they do it because analog gauges have been replaced with screens. Is there a car sold new in the US with a physical speedometer needle?
My Volvo has an auto with a manual mode, along with two auto modes: eco and sport. In eco mode, it upshifts too early and downshifts too slow, and in sport mode it is the opposite. Add in the fact that I can see hills well before the transmission feels the torque from the hills, I can choose the appropriate gear…
Chances are any British car he owned was produced while the UK was in the EU, so we’ll cut him a little slack there.
So, Cameron, you didn’t say, but since you’re in H-town, I’m guessing there is a reasonable chance you work for a petro-chemical company. So let’s play it safe and set aside hybrids and EVs since those could get you banned from those company lots.

I’m not sure how copyright/trademark laws were enforced in regards to personal branding in the early 70's. Personal branding seems like much more of a 21st century construct. Maybe I was just too young and naive in the seventies.

So which of the five will be the 2022-23 winter beater?
They are called “air brakes” for a reason. They slow the trailer down even when the wheels are in the air.
At half the price, it is a good candidate for a sympathetic restomod with a Miata drivetrain swap. But ND at $6K.
I’m not sure that the idea that the tractor acts as a wedge to stop the trailor has much merit. From the videos and images a quick search turned up, the tractor-trailer combo essentially slides as one unit, as shown below. The cabs have forward momentum too, so they aren’t going to act as any more of a brake than the…
Semi trailers have air brakes. If the trailer detaches from the tractor, then the air hoses also detach causing the trailer’s brakes to lock. While momentum would carry the trailer forward for some distance (100-200 yds?), you won’t see an unattached trailer just cruising down the highway looking for a school bus to…
