In a Japanese context they are actually very useful. It has a rapidly aging and declining population so there really aren’t enough people to push wheelchairs, read to the elderly or help them in and out of bed.

It’s definitely a rule of thumb but younger with high miles points to a lot of highway cruising which are much less taxing than urban commuting etc. An older car with fewer miles has generally spent it’s time in traffic which is much harder on components.
