There’s a joke somewhere in there, in my brain, about Matt Gaetz, but I’m just not yet finding it. Damn you mental block!!!

I wished I remembered what he was blabbering on about, but honestly in the late 90s, I only knew him as that lawyer who got Claus Von Bulow off for “murdering” his wife (Sonny) in the 80s (along w/ the movie they made starring Jeremy Irons (who won an Oscar for that role). I think Ron Silver played Dershowitz) and for…
Dershowitz spoke at my college graduation back in the late 90s and after (the year before) sitting in the hot sun (at my then girlfriend’s college graduation) and listening to the then keynote speaker (a local businessman who must have donated some serious money to speak) for almost an hour (again, in the hot sun), I…
I would have liked to have seen the sketch from, I think, the late 1970s about the commercialization of Christmas and where one child says something like, “1976, now that was a real Christmas”. Anyone know the sketch I am thinking of? I think it is in black and white.
When “Sorcerer’s Stone” came out I had not yet read any of the books (started reading those when “Azkaban” came out in theaters), and will admit after “Phoenix” hit theaters, I felt like seeing the rest (after reading the books) felt like a chore where I would match up what I had read w/ what was on the screen, which…
I discovered REM when I started college in the late 80s (saw them live for the “Green” tour back in 89; they toured w/ the Indigo Girls), went back and listened to their older stuff (and enjoyed it immensely. “Driver 8" makes nostalgic for those college days), and for me “Out of Time” and “Automatic for the People”…
First they want to ban books, then they will want to burn books. Have we not seen this before? I fear for a portion of this population that wishes to be ignorant, and yet has the power to destroy what is held so dear by so many. The ability to think and learn for themselves and that to blindly ignore history’s…
Wasn’t one of them (Mo Brooks, from AL) wearing body armor on Jan 6th, 2021. I mean, seriously, who would do that if they did not know what was going to go down?
“Kidman is a four-time Oscar winner”
But what of PJ and Squi? Are they lifting....12 ounces at a time? Inquiring minds and all.
I remember seeing the HBO movie “Late Shift” and saying often, “Come on, that could not have possibly happened,” and then after the whole Leno/Conan fiasco, I was sure all of that happened.
Was Conan still getting paid by NBC, while on TBS, b/c of their botched effort to retire Leno and replace him w/ Conan? I seem to remember that being the case. He may still be getting paid by NBC for all I know.
So, I remember first seeing the commercials for Rick and Morty and thinking, “what is this, an animated Back to the Future ripoff?” Hard pass. However, after watching the first few episodes, I was hooked. I can also say the same about Archer, Community, Parks and Rec, and The Orville.
IMHO: GoTG is the most enjoyable MCU movie....wait for it.....ever!!!
I missed that game and went to bed early as I had to be up at 5am for a four hour drive west, so I only heard about it on the radio during the drive the next morning. I desperately needed to see what had happened, so I stopped at the first rest stop I knew had a television and was like, “What the Hell is going on?”. I…
Agreed and neither are any of those others (Lemon, Maddow, Carlson, etc.). It’s all punditry and opinion, whether it is right or left, or nowhere in the middle, I find most of it exhausting.
He was incredible in “The Quiet American” w/ Michael Caine (who delivered one of the best performances of his career), is funny as Hell in “Doom Patrol,” will be a local con next month (am thinking about a photo w/ him) and I am very happy to see him back in a subdued spotlight. Seems very genuine.
