The thing that bothers me about this argument, Tim, is that for artistic purposes (and I’m an educated painter), the idea of fair use is for transformative, or satirical, or commentative purposes. None of which the pulled earrings meet. They’re just a sad replica, swiped from upper management’s back catalogues. Those

There was no independent artist. They were lying to save their asses. One of their own companies had already purchased this same style from her, and tried to reorder them at a much lower price, which she declined to do. The three companies are intertwined and all know what the other branches are carrying. But you are

This is so awful because they lowballed her and then stole her idea, so they clearly knew where the earrings were coming from.

Right? Also, you do not owe anyone an explanation of whom you are or how you live your life. If you are on shaky ground/new territory, anyway, why come out to people who will only diminish and demean you? There are loads of exquisitely sensitive topics I feel no need to share with people who will use them as a dagger

Yeah, that last line made me see red. School is place #1 behind the parents when it comes to socialization and the school looked the other way.

You know it probably did. Ugh. That poor girl.

Yes. I remember being miserable in grade school, but at least I got to go home and get some relief at the end of the day. Now everything is uploaded to apps, kids harass kids via text... It’s unrelenting.

This is heartbreaking.

Just becuase it didn’t take place during school hours doesn’t make the school district less responsible for not teaching the other students to behave like decent humans.

I can’t imagine growing up in this day and age were you can’t escape, outgrow, or move on from any incidents. They are there forever. This poor baby was overwhelmed. :(

Jack Daniels is prevented by law from selling or even advertising to children, as well as facing numerous restrictions on sales, including not selling to visibly intoxicated persons, restrictions on giving away drinks for free, etc.

There is legislation to make sure that liquor companies don’t prey on addicts and underaged kids. There’s also legislation (at least where I am) that restricts marketing and minimum cost per sale.

Jack Daniels doesn’t design its products specifically to get their hooks into alcoholics.

I wouldn’t say that you are wrong, but let me put things in a different light.

Apples and oranges. Jack Daniels doesn’t specifically target alcoholics.

you are missing the point. we should be free to buy and play a game without some added “lootbox” type thing that’s so easy to get sucked into.

I...you’ve never met an alcoholic or looked into the doctorate of AA and it’s ilk, have you?

“It’s not just a one time purchase. It never is.”

Seriously. I fucking hate when people are like "no, my dog's cool, he's just gonna wander around the yard while I tool around in the garage," and then I walk past with my two territorial-as-fuck dogs on leashes and that asshole's dog mosies over to say hello.

I'm looking at you, people who think your dog is friendly and well-behaved enough to be off of a leash. You're all assholes.
