My take on this is that GM knows how to build V-8 powertrains. They also know how to build a V-6 powertrain.

I get where’re you’re coming from with this, but it may be a wash - that turbo and it’s associated piping may take the space of the other cylinder bank this motor doesn’t have. 

It’s all fun and games until it breaks...
