I dont understand why no one took the time to make the shield optically correct. If fighter pilots can see and not get dizzy at speeds past mach 1, yet F1, the pinnacle of automotive technology cant take the time to make a safety device optically correct prior to testing?

Im fairly certain the spring that binged massa could fit through there in the right trajectory.

They’re a thing definitely. Where they draw ire is when people try to claim their car is “mid engined” when its in reality a more simplistic front mid design.

tough to do when wayne taylor racing is a thing.

What really needs to happen is a licensing deal and a cloud. LVL5 needs to license the tech to auto manufacturers, in exchange for data upload to LVL5's cloud, so conditions can be updated near instantaneously, and use the cameras already installed on the vehicle to provide the method of data capture.

Sir, We’d like to have a little chat

I always confuse them for Lincoln LS’s

“But was there anything he could do as turbo teen that he could not do previously as just… a teen with a car?”

Sad to lose a racer, happy he went out doing what he clearly loved.

Im disappointed in how quiet it is. I get that its a turbo and those usually quiet things down a bit, and I get that wolfgang ulrich of audi lemans fame once mentioned that noise is wasted energy. If I have 700 hp under my right foot, id prefer something a bit more maniacal.

so VW took a page out of the FCA playbook?

maybe its because of my ownership of an 06 STi that has made me adept at spotting the fakes.

Which makes perfect sense. I realized in the gif header you can make out STi Brembo’s under the hood, that said the film appears to communicate that the car is in fact a WRX, whether modified or not the interior shots, and exterior shots are all wrx.

Yes, of course. That said, the color as far as I can tell is the stock color “Shining red”.

so car enthusiasts dont give a shit if an enthusiast driven website cannot properly identify a common enthusiast car?

Slightly disappointed Jalopnik cannot properly identify a very common enthusaist subaru. Its NOT an STi, its a regular GD chassis (06 or 07) WRX.

This. 100%. While not as smooth as a dual clutch, the lack of refinement is welcomed. Nothing beats an s6 shift flat out @ redline.. the click bang of it all is fantastic, and after tuning with the TTFS tune, SMG is almost modern.

Truth, I’ve owned two, and honestly I love SMG. its never given me any issues, and its fun to drive. the manual gets all the praise, I totally get it, but the stock box has one of the crappiest shifters I’ve ever used. Long, vague, and rubbery.

from a DD perspective you’re absolutely right, but a better comparison would be an e46 m3. The e39 weighs a full thousand pounds more than the ev0 and is an entirely different class of car.

great review, but I disagree with the “B rating”. I feel jalopnik moved from the “numbers game” to better differentiate the performance versus “live with” aspects of the car. Honestly, evo’s don’t make great DD’s, just like STi’s dont make great DD’s. Small fuel tank, terrible fuel economy, rough ride, uncomfortable
