I don’t think the ultra-Orthodox Jews who refuse to sit next to women on airplanes (as in the linked article) have much in common with the modern Orthodox synagogue this woman belongs to. Not that mainstream Orthodox Judaism doesn’t have its gender issues, but still.
The commenter is an Asian woman and English isn’t her first language... it seems more likely that she appreciated seeing a Hollywood star with Asian features.

I wasn’t so sure but even assuming she does, I also think the article should clarify that this is a trial court, since most states (and the U.S.) use “Supreme Court” to refer to the jurisdiction’s highest court.

Uh, not a U.S. Supreme Court judge. A New York state judge. New York state trial courts are called “Supreme Courts” (even though they are actually the lowest courts in NY, not the highest as you might think given the word “Supreme”).
