This was the most glaring WTF from the whole thing.

The cops presented the most bland responses to media requests. They even helped to calm the “he faked it” crowd when they were pushing hard.

It wouldve been much easier to just say "i don't want to press charges"  but he had to go for the charges. 

Nah, it’s time to judge. If these two guys did this outside of Smollett’s orders, they’d still be in custody. But you can’t charge someone with an assault that was asked for.

I work in the brewery industry and was full on expecting the type of culture you are suggesting. But my experience, at least here in the Texas scene, is shitheads are checked quickly and expelled. We don’t tolerate that shit.
