The difference now is that Nintendo has a patent on the concept of a tablet system with controllers that can either be attached to a system or removed and used to form a separate controller. This thing is not surviving the inevitable lawsuit from Nintendo in it’s current form factor.

There’s no denying that this is heavily influenced by both the form and popularity of the switch... But there have been other attempts at something similar and there would continue to be more...

Agreed. I love my Switch. I wish everyone would make a Switch knockoff for their platform.

I’m rarely on my dedicated computer during the week, so being able to boot up something portable and have access to that library would be great... having to pay what I imagine to be the cost of some level of a new PC and it having like a 2 hour battery life isn’t so great though...

Now playing

Yup. Here’s one example from a year and half or so before the Switch was released:

They absolutely definitely said “please don’t say Switch.” Plus, if you’re hosting a presentation for a company, you don’t “call them out” on anything unless you never want to do this sort of work again.

A Nintendo Switch that plays my Steam, Humble, and GOG libraries would maybe be my favorite thing.

What does the Mercedes button do?

It’s got two hours of battery life. Alienware reinvented the Sega Genesis Nomad for a new generation.

it sounds like there’s only 4 people in the audience lol

I can’t wait to play one of them Alien Nintendos.

The switch form factor is so amazing, I would love it if it became a standard platform targeted by different manufacturers.

I miss being able to jump on Goombas as Hello Kitty.

Are you saying we should stick to sports?

They really need to stick to video games.

I posted this on io9, but I’m in the greys there, so, might as well post it here as well...

I fail to see the harm done ot even risked here. Awards were still announced. The commercials ran on time.

It’s an industry wank-fest used as an excuse to show commercials. Lighten up, Francis.
