I joined Acura in 2002. Being a die hard Honda guy, I thought it would be great to work for a higher marque Honda. There was the Integra Type R, CL Type S 6-speed, RSX Type S... I then started to really dig the more refined TL 6-speed. When the recession hit, things went downhill pretty fast. But through that I

I lived in Lima Ohio for a couple of years. There was a rock station (98.9 The Bear) I used to listen to all the time that was based in Ft. Wayne Indiana. Half of the year they were an hour behind. The rest of the year their times were the same. It drove me batty until I found out about that area of Indiana not

$2.65 for 87 in Mobile, Alabama. Right now it is one of the only redeeming qualities of this shit hole.

Ok, I will freely admit this here. Growing up I watched so much British TV that I have picked up a RP accent of sorts. I say "process" with a long o. I say "zed" instead of "zee". Truth be told, I know how it happened. When I was in primary school I had made those pronunciations, and I was immediately told they

My gods man, you are my idol in this. I read your blog and it makes me wanna jump back to my hometown and snatch up the DeLorean I found sitting in a guy's yard near the house I grew up in. Yeah. Seriously. I have pictures.

Pretty much every Honda/Acura V6 (actually, every one of them) uses a timing belt all the way to present day. The K-series inline fours use chains as well as some of the other fours. But every Honda sourced V6 has one. I know; they paid for my house and my 6-speed manual SH-AWD TL.

Considering the XJ chassis went from a decent off-roader to a novelty SUV on a FWD chassis, this is the last real bastion of 4WD capability. Yeah, they are gonna screw this up. Big time.

Also bear in mind that the Casa's de-icing system sucks balls. It never works right, if it ever works at all. And furthermore, they seem to break down a lot. All the time. My wife is an AET for the Casa, and she flies in them every single day. There have been more than plenty of occasions that the planes have

I understand your concerns. When I was doing these, I had reservations. Unfortunately, as a technician my hands are tied. Pretty much everybody does not want to pay for a $600 airbag module if they do not have to. But if the recall tells me not to replace it, I could not.

As for "types like me", I would like you to

The procedure for our recalls if to pull the airbag out. You go to Honda's website and put in model and serial numbers. Then you get a response back to replace or reinstall. You do not tear down the airbag at all.

Honda/Acura tech here. I have inspected countless airbags from these recalls. I have only needed to replace 1, ever. Do not get me wrong here. This situation is absurd. We have been Honda and Acura for years, and I am not crazy about the fact that there could be a shotgun pointed at my pregnant wife's face

Live and in person, once. Way before Skyfall came out. Now it is just in a car collector magazine or when pops up on BBC America in Top Gear or Bond movie (Goldfinger all the way). She has noticed them quite often since we saw this movie.

"Go on, eject me. See if I care"

Any time my wife sees a DB5, that is the first thing that comes out of her mouth.

Now that I have a daughter (with a second one inbound in a couple months) and less disposable income, I have been looking for a car that has a high depreciation value already knocked off with all the luxury gizmos I have been accustomed to. The Phaeton thread from earlier sparked my interest. Have any resources I

Not bad mate. I have to say how much I love these post on your S-Class. If I wasn't so easily frustrated, I would go for this. Stuff like this is my bread and butter. As a Master Tech with Acura for years, I acquired so many things that I could "upgrade" my drivers with. I would get parts that were queued for

That procedure is very similar to the dash replacement procedure for an Acura TL. The major difference is that the main support structure for the entire dash needs to be separated from the bulkhead (firewall) to take the dash cover off. How long the dash take by chance?

Kudos to you on this. I have been wanting to

This is one of the best AOTD that I have seen in quite some time because I can identify with it. So many of my friends fall into these stereotypes that I think it is not fair to wholly see that car instead of the stigma that it exudes.

I grew up in a very low income blue collar area. The F-body stereotype is the

While I tend to agree with you about the ambiguity of the damage, I have seen cars totaled strictly for "cosmetic" damage.

I am a die hard Honda/Acura loyalist. My current daily driver is a 2010 TL SH-AWD with a 6-speed manual. That car is an absolute blast to drive. Acura made an absolutely horrible mistake with the styling of the 2009 TL. If they had the softer lines of the 2012 TL on the 2009 model we may not be having this exact

A person is entitled to a view in favour or against anything. Case in point, American Honda had a huge issue with their 4 and 5 speed automatics in Honda Accords, Pilots, Acura CL's, TL's, and MDX's. As far as the Acuras go, the third gear clutch pack would essentially explode in the case. This would result in
