Follow up to the Patel doc though, he does end up marrying a brown woman! He met randomly instead through a setup. They need to revise the ending!

And don’t forget their treatment of the brother’s fully Black girlfriend.

Some of us identify as SEA though most of America thinks we’re Asian. No y’all, understand the difference and the history of Asian colonization in the SEA region.

Yeah, racism is a problem among many Asian immigrants. As I said above though, not all Asians are faring well in American society and that you lump all Asians together in some monolithic bloc shows just how otherly Asians are in American society.

Esp Asians who are also Muslim....

Yeah, you’ve had way worse. And? Asians should just shut up about everything race related cause they haven’t had it the worst of all?

A sexy spy movie called Lesbionage.

On what possible metric are Asian people oppressed? Asian people have higher average incomes, higher levels of education, lower rates of incarceration, better access to healthcare, and fewer instances of police violence then WHITE PEOPLE. Asian people literally outperform WHITE PEOPLE on ALL the metrics.

Second, to say that Asian men owe it to Asian women to marry them (which is the basic gist of this article) is just plain ridiculous.

What is the underlying hatred about biracial people? That somewhere in that blood is some Black or Brown and that’s wrong. That’s what the hatred is. It is hatred of Black and Brown peoples dirtying up the pure bloodlines. Your take is reductionary. Biracial people aren’t the only people being discriminated against,

Welcome to the world of Black woman, where we get NOTHING. Rarely the love interest or aspirational woman to be cherished and loved and protected. Pretty much always the sassy best friend who has no life outside of the white folks on screen. And good damn luck if you’re dark-skinned and rock your natural hair/braids.

Man, Kinja really doesn’t want me to comment on this one. But yes: I’m a white woman who’s into brown dudes (we all have a physical ‘type’ and I hit puberty in Indonesia, white dudes aren’t disqualified but they’re not my go-to fantasy boyfriend material) and I don’t need more representation in media. Give someone

title suggestions, please!

And spent much of the series pursuing Ann, whose ambiguous ethnic blend perfectly represents the dream of the American melting pot.

I think she does mention it:

Agreeeeeed! I haven’t seen the movie yet, but when my husband and I saw the trailer we both wondered why the brown guy gets the glorified white girl yet again! Obviously, this is based on Kumail’s actual life story so I can’t fault the story itself, and I look forward to seeing it. But with so few depictions of South

This is a really bad take on a great article.

I don’t hate biracial people. Im just sick of women of color getting left behind, set aside overlook hell just never the one.

Since you’re not asian, you can’t be expected to understand what it’s like to be within a stone’s throw of acceptance but always kept at arm’s length fulfilling the role of yes men. Don’t try to understand it, you can’t, you’re not asian and don’t have the lived experience.

Lately a lot of pieces on jezebel have been a bit of a reach for me but this one I firmly agree with. I couldn’t quite articulate why this movie’s premise didn’t warm my heart as much as it perhaps should but you articulated it beautifully
