Before reading your second reply, I already thought your post was making connection between your father's frustration at the setter (and misdirected anger towards you) and your reaction to the router to show how our parents' actions can rub off and affect the type of adults we become.

I'm glad you had a cathartic

This post about Jason's letter highlights one of the most annoying things about kinja - when a post with an older, related post embedded at the end also includes the original comments. Any discussion of the new info is buried in the sea of old comments.

This instance isn't as bad because Drew's piece is a current

Boy you've got everyone there with the challenge to debate using Real Names. Parents admonishing corporal punishment must be terrified the world could find out that they don't lay a hand on their children.

"Oh and I work in congress and have a masters in public policy."

No I am not saying slavery and corporal punishment are the same thing. I'm mocking your statement because that exact logic has been used to defend a number of awful practices that we now look back on with scorn.

Man that's good.

More than half of America and definitely more than half of the world think you're dead wrong when it comes to slavery. It's sad you're so unaware of how arrogant you look by proclaiming all slavery is bad and does not work, because you have "studies" to back your claim. Sorry, you're convincing NOBODY with your

Are you seriously defending beating your children by saying "at least I vaccinated them"?

Exactly. PED usage has received exhaustive coverage the past ~8 years. How do so many people still talk about banned drugs like their only function is turning you superhuman with a snap of the finger?

Good guess — it's from Apocalypse Now.

Edit: And yeah it's supposed to be a napalm airstrike but doesn't really resemble one.

I've always wondered what's going on in this scene. It starts out like a rolling explosion from left to right and then everything just goes off at once. Did the pyrotechnics mess up? Is this discussed in the documentary?

Ah okay. Thanks. I wasn't trying to attack Bazelon and I don't think it changes the point of her column. I just think it's a little disingenuous to say Ray spit on Janay while she was laying there since it isn't backed up by any other accounts.

Oh. I hadn't seen that anywhere and a quick Google brings up nothing. Have a link? If this is true that makes what Rice did even more malicious.

Cool idea for a comparison, but the perspective is making it look closer to 3m assuming that's supposed to be a regulation 10' rim.

The article made great points, but I think it's pretty egregious of her to say "...clocking his girlfriend in the face in an elevator, spitting on her, and then dragging her limp body into a casino hallway..." Why does Bazelon say Ray spit on Janay's unconscious body? Rice's actions were damning enough. Embellishing

"And what should the legal consequences be for a man who is caught on video clocking his girlfriend in the face in an elevator, spitting on her, and then dragging her limp body into a casino hallway?"

Edit: I agree with you, and I'm adding that:

I think you meant to respond to someone else.

But to clear up your issue with the criminal justice system, after examining the case, the prosecutor allowed Rice to enter a pretrial intervention program and didn't push for a trial.

"The government should get involved because this story 'went viral' on the internet?"

I'll give you that it wasn't ridiculous, but old references gain humor from "hah that was a long time ago." Take a staff poll!
