I recommend that you look up your nearest SCCA track night in America, or other similar HPDE event, and preferably drive in but, but at the very least go spectate. I agree. I got my 996 in 2012 for $27K, but it only had 27K miles at the ripe old age of 12 (long story short: original owner died and it had been in storage). Also had the IMS/RMS issues fixed (that’s the nice part of having your mechanic broker the sale). But I would also agree that the price isn’t bad for the car.

The factory piece is a permanent solution. The active oiling solutions are a money grab by companies who don’t actually understand the failure mode.

If you drive the car hard, even if the inner seal fails the bearing will last a very very long time, it’s when you poke around town for 30k that you have problems.

I really hate cramped engine bays. Having to remove that license plate and holder to do something as minor as a full engine rebuild just kills it for me. CP.
