Just a friendly warning about Costco gas:  The last time I had a membership the gas was 10% cheaper than anywhere else, but my car’s gas mileage was 20% worse.  It was definitely a bad deal for me.  I urge anyone else trying their gas to watch your mileage, your car may be more or less sensitive to it than mine was.

My old company did something similar by setting all meeting 30 minutes before lunch, in the break room.  It would have been great, except every meeting ended up lasting an hour and a half, locking everyone out of the breakroom until it was done.

This is basically the same business model as Uber, isn’t it? Get investors with a lot of money to blow, set your prices too low, get a giant customer base, and hope backend costs drop before money runs out. For Moviepass I think they hoped theaters would get on board and drop movie prices for them, for Uber they’re

I woke up a few months ago feeling like there was a gun to my head. Generalized anxiety disorder. I didn’t actually think there was a gun, I don’t worry about guns, it was just a feeling... that’s lasted ever since. I have to wonder if I’ve got a bad bone somewhere secreting too much of this stuff. Something tells me

Too true. My theory is that we developed this sense of disgust in response to botfly larvae infections.

Theranos succeeded as well as it did by making a black box and controlling what goes in and out. This is an open source project with 3,000 collaborators. It must have worked somewhat well for people to hang on as long as they did.

So the doxxers made money?  Bang Bros essentially paid a ransom encouraging the next doxxers to do the same thing.

My tinnitus is basically white noise, and the net result is that people have to talk louder for me to hear them.

I appreciate the warning. I don’t shop at places that pull these shenanigans. My local Arby’s started asking “medium or large” when I ordered a meal, like small wasn’t an option. Obviously I can just say small. The question itself is the real problem though, so I just don’t go there anymore.

I keep an old wallet with $50 cash in small bills and change, and a $50 visa gift card because sometimes credit card is the only option.

Now I want to start throwing creed cds in open windows of parked cars. Of course I don’t want to pay for the cds, but it would be a fun prank.

Did you title this “Amazon Echoes...” so that this story shows up in a search for ‘Amazon Echo’?

This actually sounds pretty good.  Any interest from the studios?

This is the internet. Are we not talking about a poop knife?

Can they define ‘simulated’?  Would any place holder, like a modem noise, be considered simulated?  Does it actually have to trigger equipment designed to listen for the noise to be bad?

There’s already a mechanism in place, fines for swearing.  Should be an easy transition.

I usually hit the ground in those dreams.  Splat!  I’m just laying there dead until I wake up.

I did a similar setup with TP-Link Kasa switches.  I have an HS200 on the fan itself and an HS220 dimmer on the lights.  It’s nice being able to turn the lights off from bed and set a timer for the fan.

Thanks for the confirmation that it’s good. I was a little worried about the applε.ng address, and the request for my social security and bank routing info. Oooh, apparently I’m in the running for a special $10,000 credit limit, I just need to send $100 via bitcoin to cover shipping costs, refunded if I don’t win.
