As a survival nut, I actually agree with the idea of this list. At least some of these, including First Aid, work offline. I wouldn’t normally carry a first aid book everywhere, but now it takes no extra resources to have it on hand.

I read about a survey of people that had survived disasters and the thing people most wish they had on hand was cash. With exchange, it can become any survival item depending on the needs of the day. I can’t find that survey so I may have made it up, but I do agree with your point.
