Try looking up auditory processing disorder (APD). I have the same problem. It’s a constant struggle at work because everyone (including me) wants to listen to the radio, but I’m essentially deaf while its on.

The luddite movement has been saying this for the last 200 years. I don’t believe it will happen until robots are more intelligent than us (maybe 50 years, maybe never), and then jobs will be just the tip of the iceberg.
This doesn’t really apply to anyone else, but I have a chronic MRSA sinus infection. Scores of antibiotics, 2 surgeries, and daily sinus rinses haven’t done anything. Getting the flu this January with a fever of 102 basically burned the infection out of my head. It came back after a month, but maybe it won’t next…

I thought I got this one from lifehacker, maybe not. I breathe in as much as I can and hold it, then I breathe in some more, then some more, then some more... I keep going like that until it hurts. That’s my final/worst case solution, for a very mild case forcing myself to burp can fix it.
