I got a job at a new store of a large retail company by calling them up and telling them I was hired. The did have my resume on file at that point. They put me into their next training session and I started work a few days later. I worked there for years. This is actually the first time I told anybody.
I use dropbox and either 1Password's notes feature or Steganos LockNote.
I'm partial to Image Resizer for the same thing with a simpler interface.
I called them a few years ago and I was told that you have to go to their office for the test. I believe the cost is somewhere between $2000 and $4000. For that you get the test and I think a pair of contacts and a pair of glasses. I think the test itself takes 10-16 hours.
I did something similar for a while but I didn't like pushing the tissues through the hole. Cutting the opening on the box made it less stable and the box didn't last very long. I ended up using a 100CD case as a trash can. Easy to drop stuff into and it lasts forever. I may try tying it to the tissue box I keep…
The test requires a calibrated screen to be remotely accurate. I've passed or failed many ishihara tests over the years depending entirely on the monitor.

If I knew what was in my queue then maybe I'd be tempted to go back. By killing the vacation holds they've killed my business. Plus, $7.99, I can't miss that deal.
After the transit of Venus I bought a large piece of welding glass:
I want to know what's in my queue. They killed vacation hold so now I don't keep a list (my old queue) of things on netflix that I want to watch.
Quick, patent every possible gesture before Apple does.
I blacklisted Capital One 10 years ago because they kept screwing up stuff on my roommate's credit card. This looks like they're becoming a respectable company. I may have to look into them again.
I use the search bar in firefox. To do the same thing with any search engine in the search bar go to 'about:config' (type it into the address bar, no 'http' or anything) and set browser.search.openintab to 'true'.
I see two problems with transcribing this way. First, the volume could change in the middle of a word and neither person would get that word. More on this later. Second, as someone that's partially deaf, I can honestly say that a lot of my understanding comes from seeing lips move (which isn't possible here, so…
It's a stereotype for a reason. Many of the people working with linux virtualization would find this hilarious. The rest, meh. It's a boys club where the girls are used to the boys being stupid (notice how the girls aren't excluded?). I'm just wondering how a puritan came across it.
Waiting for a thunderbolt-to-PCIx adapter for under $50. I'd settle for eSATA or USB 3.0. Since a cable alone costs $50, I don't think I'll be using my thunderbolt port any time soon.
Canon T2i (w/3 lenses) and iphone 3gs.
I like the DownloadHelper firefox extension. It won't do DRM'd stuff like netflix or amazon, but it's great on youtube and several other site.
Nice article. I can't help but think that the same thing could be accomplished by replacing the planter with another nested yogurt cup. Just put a something between them, like a rock, to space it a little higher up.
