I am curious & meant no disrespect to the fans. Hence the question. I just don't feel like diving in if it's not my thing since I've got a busy sked & committing to a long series can take a huge amount of time off it. But everyone's got great answers & I might check it out when the dust settles.

Forgive my ignorance, but why exactly is Doctor Who so popular? I've been skipping the show & posts about it just in case I want to check it out in the future. But from this outsider, it seems campy & unremarkable, but I'm trying to understand the hook of this show.

I'm almost inclined to agree with you, but this may widen the gulf between the haves & have nots. You risk eliminating poorer countries from the medal count. Kenyan runners, poorer Asian boxers, Islander track athletes etc, become a thing of the past. And their stories are what makes the Olympics interesting.
