In response to dieselgate, EPA has recently begun randomly doing on-road testing of diesel vehicles in order to prevent any more shenanigans. The on-raod tests don’t follow any cycle that’s performed on the dyno. The Eco-diesels were released before these changes. The EPA and EU had these on-road tests in the works

GM Authority?... Really scraping the bottom of the news barrel that CES is emptying...

Engineering prototypes are cool as hell.

I moved to Michigan from Florida and figured my insurance went up because of the snow since Florida is also a No-Fault state. I still don’t understand why MI is so high and I don’t think I ever will.

It means a lot to many in the industry. When the list comes out they pass out posters with all the engines on it (I have one at my desk).

So they’re coming to America and are gonna replicate Mt. Rushmore sorta?

Gotta jump to Generous Motors for that stuff.

Why not just strengthen the lax Diesel emission standards?

OMG, THANK YOU CADDY!!!

I saw someone the other day with a chain dangling that had 2 large machine nuts on it. I laughed.

Good time for a friendly reminder:

In addition to that off road stuff ^ it can showcase frame rigidity, Honda was all about showcasing how much more rigid the new Ridgeline was over the Tacoma by doing the same thing and opening and closing doors and measuring the bed deflection on each at their release event.

AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO THINKS ITS AWESOME THAT CARPET IS OPTIONAL!?!?!

The tire still fits under the bed like the normal Colorado, the bed mount is a new Gear-On option they’re pushing. None of the prototypes have the bed mount.

GM doesn’t want to put the money into calibrating a new trans for the diesel. You can’t just take a trans cal from a gas engine and plop into a diesel trans and expect it to be optimized. The next gen Colorado probably gets a new diesel of GM’s own design and they are just biding their time until then.
