Diaz signed the deal with Temple. They had a presser and everything! And now he gets to demand complete loyalty and no more meetings after talking to him? Do you think if circumstances change for one of his recruits, Diaz is going to be as sympathetic?

I strongly agree with you. The “white, male” thing was gratuitous and not meaningful in context since I have to figure many true pioneer podcasters (Marc Maron, e.g.?) were white and/or male.

I, like most people, agree with the general reaction to Variety. However, this was one case where I really don’t think the “white, male” modifiers were relevant.

The only revolutionary podcast is the Andy Daly Pilot Podcast Project; and possibly Superego: Forgotten Classics. Everything else is just the format of a group of people sitting around talking about something one way or another, I don’t care what their race or level of fame is.
