If every employee in Fremont who has been mistreated is able to get this amount, I would say that these are fair numbers. However, that is very unlikely, so the punitive damages are also very unlikely to make Tesla change its behavior.

Delivery services have been busted using the tip as part of the base pay. So the driver always made the same per delivery, regardless of the tip. I don’t think any do that now after some internet uproar, but it was something the apps did. That’s part of the argument that none of the drivers are independent…

They are too lazy to go pick up food. Or you are too cheap to get food delivered. I typically end up on the being too cheap side of the argument, but occasionally do order.

If a restaurant actually offers their own delivery service (pizza and Chinese are the big two around me), I’ll gladly take advantage of the service and tip the guy cash when he shows up.

I see people in my neighborhood getting McDonalds delivered, and all I can think is “why are you like this?”.
