Hate to say it, but D&D made the right decision and maintained a holistic vision for the show’s ending. Excellent direction would have been jarring alongside piddle-poor writing.

Actually, if there is one major criticism of the show, is that they did take major liberties/artistic license with what happened. Emma Watson’s character isn’t real. As the women in charge at the time of the incident was not even mentioned or depicted for some reason: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentyna_Shevchenk…
In all honesty, it stopped being a thing for me partway through the first episode. Mazin also makes a point to discuss this very issue in the first episode of the companion podcast series.
I don’t often say this about a politician, but the more I learn about her, the more I like Ocasio-Cortez. Seriously.
As always, I am hesitant to reply to comments with the knowledge that the Kinja system elevates Staff contributions and thus the comments themselves, but I want to address this since I’ve seen it pop up a couple of times in my notifications.
I’m having such a hard time wrapping my head around D&D deciding to end it with two short seasons while HBO was completely fine with full 10 ep seasons for 7 and 8, and even wanted more than that. Like why rush to the end like this?
They completely undid Jaime’s arc.
What an utterly baffling episode. It’s almost like this show got cancelled and the producers clapoed their hands and said, “Mm’k, let’s get this shit over with.” And then proceeded to finish the series out in the most basic way possible while ignoring 90% of the built of mythos of the books and the last 7 seasons
Honestly maybe even worst served than Dany’s arc was Jaime’s.
What in the seven hells was Jaime’s plan? Did he seriously want to run back to Cersei, even when it was clear she hired a hitman to kill him? The framing of their death being tragic was really weird.
So the bells made Dany into a crazed mass murderer? I understand her going off the deep end, but killing hundreds for no reason struck me as forced.
That was hilarious. I was like, oh hey it’s Kristen Schaal. And wait, is that Tilda Swinton? Then it just fucking snowballed.
Arthur Fleck? A. Fleck? Affleck?!!! The Joker isn’t Batman’s brother, he IS the goddamn Batman!!!
The New and Improved GoT: Don’t you see? Rape builds character!
No, no. You’re just mistaken.
At this point it’s like Euron’s stealth teleporting fleet. You just have to go with it.
Are we gonna pretend Jon would be a great ruler? His leadership positions ended in either him abdicating or getting murdered. Dude never won a battle himself.
A- episode for me. I thought it was hilarious. I don’t care if we’ve seen the projectile vomiting bit before. I lost it seeing the Baron eating that pizza. But I gotta toss in that minus there for the decision to kill the Baron off this soon (even if the way he went out was funny). Not only is it an odd choice…
Allegedly the show had to work out a deal with Orlando Jones because the cast was rewriting so much dialogue in disgust that they needed Jones since he's the only cast member who's also a writer's guild member. That probably accounts for the increase in Jones monologues. They really will never come close to his…
I’m not sure Viserion is a wight; when the Night King revived Viserion, it was by touching him. When he saw the Night King raise wights, it was just through his will. When he touched the baby, it looked like it became a Walker.
Who says no to Meryl Streep? If she wants to do something you make it happen. Even a pair of fellow Oscar winning actress on one of the best limited series of the year.
