Seriously, I was reading a conversation between a Sinclair broadcaster and Matt Pearce from LAT. Apparently some of their contracts require the employee to re-pay the remaining value of their contract (plus an additional fee), you’re not allowed to apply for a new job at a local competitor, and sometimes Sinclair even…
Visited the national Holocaust museum last week and the first few rooms chronicling the rise of the national socialists in Germany were chilling. Trump is using the same playbook.
You know, when I think of MONOPOLIZED industries in America, I can’t help but think we’re actually living through the nightmare sequence of the classic film, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” where we’re all George Baileys living in the alternative down-on-its-luck, monipolized Pottersville (instead of friendly, embracing…
True, but it’s very accurately checking off all the boxes for the BEGINNING of a dictatorship. “leader” and I use the term lightly, declares any news he doesn’t like as fake news. Check. Leader(or his pals) distributes propaganda shown to be false via media and social outlets. Check. Leader removesfrom power/position…
These people have to go to college for 4+ years and accumulate just as much student loan debt as anyone esle. Many of them make less than a teacher makes, and the field is *highly* competitive, with very little job security. If your contract is not renewed, if often means you have to pack up your family and move to a…

To all the people stating “Trump isn’t even close to Hitler” or “this is nothing like a dictatorship,” I hope you do realize Nazi Germany didn’t arise overnight.
It is April 1st. Just saying.
so everyone who notices the trend line should shut up, got it.
“Control of mass media is the first move of fascists”
My family was in Germany during the war and their strategy of keeping their heads down and hoping it would pass didn’t work. By 1945 most of the homes and the family business had been bombed into the ground and most of the men had died or disappeared in Russia.
Who are the owners and major executives of Sinclair? they should be called out so people know who they are an what they are pushing.
Just because this singular statement that Sinclair forced its broadcasters to record and air “does not sink to the level of propaganda” does not mean that it is not, by and large, a statement to let slide the constant propaganda that Sinclair forces on networks it owns.
It normalizes a stance against other news…
I hope it is merely an uninformed take; one that can be changed with adequate information.
If you have any understanding of the history of journalism and stuff, it is damn scary. Your feelings are rational and justified.
This is the end game of the 1980s media consolidation.
in all honesty, and i never reply on these things, but this is maybe the scariest thing i’ve seen in a very long time. it’s not about WHAT they’re saying, it’s THAT they’re saying it under the guise of regular news. holy hell.
I figure that the average demographic that still actually watches local news, as opposed to getting their information online, also watches Fox anyway.
I sleep well at night knowing I won’t have to explain to my grandkids someday that I was one of the good Germans.
