Nice, I’ve been ranting about this sort of thing for years, nice that there’s some activity.

Actually Norway isn’t that cold thanks to the ocean. Even Tromsö is rather balmy. It’s pretty amazing to drive to Lyngen and in 50 km south in Finnish side it’s like -30C and in Lyngen it’s about -3C. Also explains quite bit why EV:s do so well.
Um, actually if you check the map, their infrastructure is one of the most impressive and expensive in the world. Especially in the north where the mountains rise from the seas, they’ve drilled hundreds of kilometers of tunnels through mountains both to make shortcuts and prevent avalance road blocks. They’ve easily…
My co-worker who was a hw guy (unfortunately passed) had a about 5 year old MB GLE. He had to tinker with the rear brake light electronics like once per month. Shitty capacitors and soldering if I remember correctly. Personally I’ll take actual light bulps and real gauges every day. Not only they work, but age much…
Used to write drivers for LCD displays for quite few years. Personally I think it’s matter of not setting the display orientation settings. The default settings might fail either due environmental issue EMC or ESD or just variation on the HW. Normally there’s detection mechanism that see if something is failing in the…
Would be lovely though it is, 200-300kg lighter 3-series. Unfortunately they would cram other “luxury” crap to fill the delta.
It’s still rather far from garden variety 3-series wagon in my books.
Unfortunately they didn’t. I also salivated on the premise of carbon fibre 3-series diesel manual wagon. On our side of the pond that could have been reality. Perhaps even brown.
Interestingly the current passat sedan is also discotinued in this side of the pond. Wagon continues as it sells over double what sedan did.
Mjea, the rest of the lineup looks amazing. This is a bit awkward.
Cool, cool, cool. Starting price of the 5 seater Ranger (170hv diesel) here in Finland is 50k€, so about 60k$ as it’s taxed as car. The 2 seater is taxed as commercial vehicle so it’s just 30k.
Mjea, also the related 2.4T is nice. The non turbo reminds be of friends saab 93 2.3T sans turbo. The turbo had broken so they had just removed it. I’m not sure how they handled the manifold with hole, dunno if they replaced it with non-turbo one, but anyho it consumed fuel like crazy without any performance. Friend…
Hell even the base 1.6 is better than the 2.4. The 2.5 turbo is excellent though.
Ok, this is perhaps a bit too european take on this, but shittiest motor, in shitty model with slushbox. If one really really wants tinsier version of V70, there are better engines. Dunno if they exist on that side of the pond, but still.
Personally V70 is the one the Volvo to go with. Or V60 if you want same but less…
I understand that the bulk of US education is to go where the fence is lowest, but even without totally revamping the police education, perhaps you guys could even add some entrace test and psyc evaluations, etc? Those shouldn’t cost that much and should crop the worst crazies out.
I would personally claim that chain is liability these days more than asset. I mean long oil change intervals and crappy chains do not promise long life. And that’s even before any neglet.
That’s in rather nice condition. Working engine or not. Obviously project, but nice one. NP.
I like my petrosexual delights, but I have to say that for long commute electrics offer quite lot of convenience with home charging.
I kinda disagree on the temp ranges. I like outdoor activities and hike & climb & winter tour quite much. I spend about 30-50 nights in the tent per year. In winter ski tours coldest night i’ve measured _inside_ the tent was -27C, but I normally don’t have temp meter with me. And in summer it’s 30+C. And I’ve got 2…
I think most of that is not that fatal for young families, except the trunk. It’s just hilariously small, and only because the rear has such ridiculous styling. It’s way smaller than Golf hatchback trunk. Which is just fine family car.
