To be fair, that was really the sentiment in the 90s, thru the 2000s.

If words and phrases no longer have any offensive connotations to 99.9% of people, why bother? Languages evolve over time, these phrases have completely divorced themselves from their origins. Literally no one is complaining about this.

Seems like maybe you expect a lot

Preface: I’m going to be getting into the state of mental health care and awareness in the US in this post; no part of what I say below is intended to remove blame from Mr. Giles, or to say that he is somehow innocent. I’m focusing on a larger concern that is illustrated by this article, rather than trying to address

Gamers everywhere will now be furious that these companies are businesses and act accordingly.

No it isn’t. They bump when they have someone with a better season. They thought she’d medal because she scored in the top three a bunch that year. They bumped for Michelle Kwan too and they bumped the men this year too (though I didn’t watch the US one this year so I’m fuzzy on who - Brown or Miner I think).

No doubt, this is more a reflection of Maureen Dowd’s poor writing, but I found the piece very confusing, with details that were jarring and unnecessary (her father thinks she’s a reincarnated buddhist goddess?), and lack of other details that would have been helpful. Like, Weinstein is a fucking monster, we know

It’s fucked up that Justin Timberlake is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show after playing the active role in the Nipplegate scandal that effectively ended Janet Jackson’s commercial viability.

Bye, have fun at IGN. I’ll stick with a site that doesn’t ignore gaming news because it might make their readers feel things.
