Bingo. There’s no chance for a meaningful recovery and the child is in pain and will continue to be in pain. The parents’ decision is about what’s best for them, not the child. Which is why there are boards for advocating for the patient in the UK.

I agree completely. It’s hard. Terribly hard...but if your body can’t keep you alive due to a terminal non curable or treatable disease, then you should not be alive.  

I read elsewhere that the experimental procedure the parents want (which has not even been tested in mice) would have zero chance to improve his brain function even in the most miraculous of best-case scenarios. This is Terry Schiavo all over again. The brain matter is irreparably damaged, full stop.

I hate these stories. They’re impossibly difficult and cruelly unfair. But I’m still of the mind that if my child’s organs cannot function without a machine doing the work for them, this is not life.

That is straight up “let them eat cake”. He’s lucky we decided to forgo guillotine technology in this country.

Between this and reading that Trump wants to help baby Charlie but not all the kids that will lose health insurance if the republicans get their way makes me want to rip my hair out.

Hawaii has challenged the “close family” guidelines in the new ban. That’s right, White House, you may think you got away with it at the end of the day and now everyone’s going to bed, but over here we’ve got plenty of day left.

None of this has anything to do with the family preference system.

The Supreme Court is to blame for this. We all know Trump and his hateful administration would choose the most illiberal and restrictive interpretation possible, because their intent is to ban Muslims not actually improve security.

I get so worked up about Trump, and I’m not even American! I have to talk myself down and say, “It’s not my country, not my country...”
