That was my takeaway too.
That was my takeaway too.
My Facebook feed was rife with friends of friends who “just don’t understand the big deal” about blackface or those assholes in Idaho with their border wall/Mexican stereotype costumes.
Yeah, this isn’t a new thing. Blackface hasn’t been ‘acceptable’ in *white* mainstream American culture for like 30 years. Still, every couple of months some idiot gives it a shot and get called out and plays dumb. There’s no excuse for ignorance.
Whoo! That is some double-triple-reverse-back stroking right there. Olympic-quality.
So what they’re saying is, because her son is albino she can do blackface?
If you are an American adult in 2018 and you claim to have no knowledge of what blackface is, you should not be allowed to teach children. If this woman were not lying, she would still be unfit to teach. Fuck her and her “you’re welcome for educating the world about blackface/ I haven’t been caught being racist for…
well... why not... i mean she’s a teacher... lets just assume she had teachers like her... and they had teachers like her before... and ive found your problem...
All day, erryday.
She’s really trying to use the excuse of being ignorant about blackface, after the entire country made Megyn Kelly’s dumbass a headline for days about the same thing?
Every goddamn Halloween....
Well, as long as you're grey but still here, I'll still come see you.
Oh jiminy crickets! There has been so much drama today around this. I’m sorry you got hit... I’d frankly be surprised if any of us are left ungreyed by morning....
Hah!
I pretty much have to believe it’s the privilege, since nothing else explains the stubbornness of the “Hillary would have done the exact same terrible things, but you’d allow it to happen because she’d couch it in the right language!” response.
“Insurance is boring!!! I don't even NEED insurance or social security! Why should I have to pay for something I don't use?!?"
I usually counter that with, “Say what you like about Hillary Clinton, but I think she could’ve avoided picking a fight with Canada.”
I truly can’t wrap my mind around these people who would rather have no progress (or straight up regression) rather than not enough progress in favor of angry revolution. It’s like they don’t understand how violent and bloody revolutions are.
I once got into a heated discussion with a Bernie-or-bust friend who sat out 2016. He seemed to think that a) they’re both the same and b) even if Hillary’s policies wouldn’t hurt people as much as trump’s policies, it’s just not enough, therefore c) there’s no point in voting for someone who isn’t as ideaologically…
Not only that, they also stridently don’t recognize a sinking ship as dangerous. “Great!” they holler, “Let it sink, then we’ll start all over with a new ship!”
And many of them *are* inspiring in their own ways! Many of them believe the things you believe, want the things you want and work to achieve those things -- sometimes in sexy, grand, inspiring ways, but more often in wonky, boring, “she’s fine” ways. It’s incremental! Just keep electing people who are better than the…
