Thanks—that piece was quite compelling.

That radish-covered feature wall’s font is giving me distinct, mid-2000s VH1 vibes.
I kind of can’t believe anyone thought Melania’s pussy-bow blouse was a deliberate choice, or a “commentary” on her husband in either direction, like what is the commentary, even? “My pig of a husband said ‘Grab ‘em by the pussy,’ and now I’m wearing a blouse style commonly known by that same word.” ILLUMINATING
Aw, the Obamas are so adorable.
Have you noticed how many people, including commenters here, seem hellbent on constructing a narrative in which Melania doesn’t have any personal agency and is this poor abused princess held captive in a tower?
OK
Bitch, “noncontribution” is a perfectly cromulent word per CMS 16 7.85 (I’m too lazy to look up where they moved it for the 17th edition), just as legit as “goin.” Let me guess, you’re one of those people who claims to be a “grammar nazi.”
I didn’t start an investigation, you dork.
Oh, case closed then! coco_rin met Arnold one time, reports back that he’s “polite.”
Not at the time that the crimes occurred, but Curtis said Dushku “shared that story with me privately a few years ago.” Again, I’m not blaming Curtis for anything that happened, and I’m not even really saying she is part of the problem as much as I’m wondering what the hell was the point of her essay. It was just so…
I assumed that a HuffPo editor stuck “allegedly” in after Curtis submitted her essay. But I do think that a pithy, direct statement of support would have been preferable to a rambling, pointless screed that essentially underlines the fact that people, including the author, knew of the crimes against Dushku as a child,…
I realize that Jamie Lee Curtis, of all people, is hardly to blame for what happened* to Eliza Dushku but damn that HuffPo essay was a whole lot of nothing.
Jezebel may be letting its sibling site AV Club handle the Ansari story, maybe because it was originally broken by Babe.net, a direct Jezebel competitor? (I’m just speculating—I find it best not to expect any sort of editorial consistency here)
I see you’re going to pretend that Sterling K. Brown doesn’t exist to make this argument.
Very interesting. I always figured that “Stay woke” was a natural progression from the earlier “Don’t sleep,” which is a great expression that probably hit its peak in the early 2000s, before everything was hashtagged into the ground.
A beautiful tribute—thank you <3
Ms. Webb, I am so sorry to only be discovering today that you are not just writing here but are in fact the editor of this blog—amazing!! I have always loved you as a model especially because you were one of the brainiest in addition to one of the best. I own a first edition copy of Veronica Webb-Sight, TYVM!
Not to mention she does no actual work (like designing, or sourcing, or managing staff) that would require her to be in a place like NYC to “grow her business.”
I cannot think of a single fashion blog that covers what Ivanka wears. Melania gets an occasional mention—and also often praise for her style—but absolutely no one cares about Ivanka. Entire sites were given over to what Mrs. O wore.
You’re asking someone who would like to see Kate Winslet put in a cannon and shot into space. I have no idea why anyone puts her smug face in movies, let alone on magazine covers with tagline about industry-changing.
