I took the written police test 2x in IL. When it was just a test on stuff like reading maps, order of operations, reading comprehension, etc, I got a 97%. Because it fucking works. We have rape shield laws not because we all know that the victim’s past sexual behavior is irrelevant in a rape case, but because a large portion of America is quite certain that it is centrally relevant. We had to pass a law specifically because it is such a perfect defense before a jury.

I once talked to a guy who worked on investigating police misconduct in NYC and he basically confirmed for me what I suspected, cops are overwhelmingly not very bright former bullies who peaked in high school and are just drunk on the power being a cop allows them.

Even that’s not going to pass water.

It is incomprehensible that two veteran NYPD detectives would allegedly commit such an outrageous act.

In a similar situation, I’m wondering if it isn’t a better investment to really start spoiling my nieces and nephews lol. A thousand dollars here or a used car there might have a really high rate of return when I’m too old to care for myself lol!

Yeah, isn’t that the biggest gamble for all of us? Too conservative and you’ll die with a giant bucket list and a ton of cash in the bank, too spendy and you’ll end up with some memories but a horrible last decade or two.

This is why I ended up getting a soda siphon. It’s much less expensive in the long run and, especially since they stopped recycling glass in my area, much less wasteful - the cartridges are tiny and all metal.

I really wish articles would specify which kind of diabetes. It’s obvious to me that the study is referring to type 2 diabetes, but I promise many, many people don’t know the difference between t1 and t2. Ted Danson has spent his life in the spotlight and has generally been an excellent and decent person. Do you really think he deserves eternal condemnation for a single, questionable decision 25 years ago?

....and apologized for it 23 years ago and never did anything like it every again? And although yes, he should have known better and it doesn’t make it right, he did it in conjunction with Goldberg (who he was dating) and her approval. It was a giant mistake all around, they both apologized and felt horrible.

I can’t even decide which character is my favorite, they’re all so good. Right now, it’s somewhere between Tahani, Jason and Janet. But I love Michael and Chidi too.
