10 year cycle doesn't mean 10 years between systems. It means the system is still selling after 10 years. Like the PS2 is now. Compared with the TERRIBLE way the Xbox 1 was treated... I think that's the shortest life a console can have and be considered even a minor success (the Xbox 1's lifespan, I mean)

I actually mentally had to force a switch playing games like Final Fantasy 6 because I got used to Super Mario World and Secret of Mana where the B button was the prominent one. Then I started getting used to the right button as the main button, and along came FF8...
