Aha, here's the caveat, the Focus ST isn't a sedan though.

Of course. Look at the Accord Hybrid. It gets almost 50 mpg with it's two-motor system.
That's the thing though. Manufacturers do know where their materials come from. And they know what the emissions are. We don't know because we don't know where to look, but that information is available somewhere.
Yeah, I realize all vehicles are polluting. I'm just comparing hybrid to conventional, not EV.
I guess Hyundai/Kia had that 2.0 liter turbo but that's not their base engine... it's their V6 replacement. Otherwise, even the luxury brands have 4 cylinder engines under 250 hp for their entry-level sedans (A3/A4, 128 and 320/328 series, C250/CLS250).
"entry level sedans have 250+ four bangers."
Right, I mean, the mines will exist anyway. There is demand for materials from one place or another. At any rate, supply chain people at Panasonic or Toyota or LG or Tesla or whatever company makes sure they get their raw materials from the best sources, even if it costs extra. Someone somewhere will find out which…
But there are regulations to how these metals are mined, manufactured, and recycled. It's not like a company like Toyota or Ford or even Tesla is going to go and just buy raw materials from any company at will. Same goes for recycling. That's yet to be seen though. Not sure if any first gen Prius vehicles have been…
Exactly my point. They start out with a deficit but make it up in the end. Trying to quantify the environmental impact of the destruction of land is difficult for me to quantify however.
What world do you live in where an entry-level sedan has 250+ hp.
That's not true though.
The manufacturer takes this into account. You have to take the manufacturer's word for it basically.
[Waits intently for Mikey's A3 report]
It makes no sense... it's a straight line so that means that X axis is mpg and Y is mpg
I see you really want people to read this given the title you gave it.
I'm a go-er not a show-er.
Other Forester is too slow to even bother considering anyway.
I guess... until you look at the Forester and realize how much cooler that car is compared to the Vue.
